Project Spotlight: Custom Grey Diamond Ring
A customer approached us last summer with an idea for an engagement ring. He was looking for a pear-shaped grey diamond, with smaller white diamonds on one side, set in a white gold mounting.
We discussed a number of ideas and designs before settling on the sketch below. Fortunately, we had six rose-cut diamonds from a discarded vintage ring on hand, that we agreed were a perfect match for this project.
After looking at several options, he selected a stunning grey rose-cut diamond and we began to craft the mounting to fit, keeping in mind the organic feel he was looking for.
We carved a model and used lost wax casting to produce the raw piece in 14k white gold. Next, we fabricated the prongs to hold the center stone and set the remaining diamonds. Adding a high polish put the finishing touch on this incredible ring.
We’re happy to report she said “yes!” Congratulations to Andrew and his fiancĂ© Maribeth, our best wishes to you both as you begin your life together!
