Project Spotlight: Sapphire Earring Jackets
These exquisite sapphire earring charms were made for a customer who brought an inspirational photo from online (shown on the iPad in an image below) that she was hoping to recreate. She envisioned some slight modifications and also wanted to incorporate some brilliant cut accent diamonds of her own. With a deep love for blue, she was excited to hand pick her own sapphires and be part of creating these stunning, monochromatic earring charms!
We began by sourcing a variety of shades of round, blue sapphires. The customer then met with us and hand picked out the sizes and colors that she liked. From there, Katey arranged the stones to mirror each other. The customer approved the stone layout and the stones and sketch were submitted for a CAD rendering of the design to be created. Upon review of the initial design, she wanted the earrings slightly wider and shorter. Once approved, the final earrings took about 5 weeks to complete. A wax was made, and the design was cast out of 14kt yellow gold, and finally the beautiful ombré of blue sapphires were set.
The customer LOVED the final result. She enjoys changing her look, and these earring charms can shift along with whatever style she is seeking. From the images below you can see the different look hanging from a hinged diamond hoop or a plain gold hoop. These one of a kind jackets are exactly what she wanted both in appearance and function. This is what makes custom jewelry so fun!
